Frequently Asked Questions
Does ACA have FEE-HELP?
FEE-HELP is available. Check your eligibility at: studyassist.gov.org
Does ACA consider RPL (recognition of prior learning)?
Entry into the Full-time Program is by audition only. ACA can only consider RPL status after a place has been offered in the course. Generally, it is a requirement that students attend all classes, as the importance of developing the ensemble is a highly valued aspect of the training offered. However, with equivalent credit points, an applicant may enter the program in the second year (or before) provided there is a place available.
How can I obtain a copy of the transcript of my results or certificate achieved?
Transcripts of results and corresponding certification are issued to students when they finish their full-time study at ACA. A fee applies for the re-issuing of certification; and procedures are in place for the re-issuing of any qualification documents. Please contact Reception by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or phone us on 02 9310 4077 for a request of qualification documents or more information.
Is your full-time acting course like the other schools? (NIDA, WAAPA, VCA)
In terms of career training and industry preparation, absolutely. As we are not a large university or institution, we pride ourselves on our personalised service and the personal nature of our inclusive culture.
Is the qualification recognised in the industry?
Yes. You will graduate with a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Stage and Screen). As ACA was founded in 1987 and the Full-Time Acting Course began in 1990, our track record is proven, and the industry greatly respects, supports and welcomes our graduates. The feedback we receive is outstanding. We invite you to enquire within the industry and you’ll quickly find out.
Does the course prepare you for the industry?
The curriculum and teaching practices all reflect the industry of today whilst providing a fusion of traditional techniques through contemporary training. Our graduates are industry-skilled and ready to work onstage or on set with rigour, enthusiasm, commitment and care. We believe that a professional is someone other professionals wish to work with. Our graduates exemplify this.
Is there a 'culling' of students?
No, ACA does not align ourselves with this practice. We accept approximately 26 students and commit to train and graduate each and every one of them. If they commit to, travel with and achieve the levels of excellence available to every student, they will graduate. Therefore, you won’t find fear and damaging competition as a dynamic of this program – the space is clear for everyone to work at their very best and to go beyond their expectations.
Is there a Showcase?
An extensive list of guests including casting directors, agents, producers and directors are invited to come and view our graduating class when they are launched into the industry.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at email@example.com or call us on 02 9310 4077. If you have the opportunity, feel free to talk to any of our graduates.
