Lara grew up in Canberra and on the Central Coast and always loved storytelling. Before discovering acting, she dreamed of being an author and then scriptwriter—more specifically the showrunner of Doctor Who. In high school she did drama at school, took acting classes and performed in local community productions. Lara had five years of training in classical singing and was part of many choirs and chorales. She also played clarinet and alto saxophone in her school bands.
After finishing high school Lara completed a Diploma in Screen and Media at Sydney Actors School, learning acting, scriptwriting and filmmaking skills. Encouraged by one of her acting teachers to further pursue her creative interests, she went and studied a Bachelor of Communication Honours (Creative Writing) at UTS, honing her writing skills. However, her desire to pursue acting never left her and so she headed to Actors Centre Australia.
Her roles at ACA have included Colleen Bacon inSecret Bridesmaids’ Business, Polina in The Seagull, Guildenstern in Hamlet, Stage Manager in Our Town, and Dull Gret and Angie in Top Girls. She has also been part of three student-made ACA Writer’s Group productions.
Lara hopes to have an eclectic career combining her love of acting, writing, filmmaking and creating.
