Laura Lees

Born and raised on a wheat property in western NSW, Laura was forced to use her imagination from a young age, entertaining her family through afternoons of rock picking! Coming from a remote, close-knit community, Laura has learnt and values the role of hard work, empathy and laughter in both one’s personal and professional life. After attending boarding school and being cast as 1st Sheep in her debut high school production, Laura discovered how much she loved the collaborative process of theatre-making and realised her love of the imaginary world could extend further to the rehearsing and performing of plays. This led to further involvement in amateur theatre productions, a part time course at NIDA (Screen Actor’s Studio) and one-on-one screen classes with a great mentor.

Throughout her training at ACA Laura has had the joy of playing Pippy Pogson in The Season at Sarsaparilla (dir. Adam Cook), Lucy Deane The Mill on the Floss (dir. Maeliosa Stafford), Varya/Charlotta The Cherry Orchard (dir. Adam Cook), Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (dir. Jonathan Mill), Claire in Proof (dir. Kim Hardwick) and Rose in The Recruiting Officer (dir. Shaun Rennie & Richard Carroll). Laura is passionate about Australian work and continuing to bring the many fascinating characters that exist in our own backyard to the stage and screen.
