Made in Syria, partly assembled in Armenia, and sent via express post to Sydney, Australia.
Saro first dreamed of becoming an actor while he taught himself English watching western films back home in Aleppo. When he and his family had to flee their home in 2011 to seek refuge in Sydney, chasing this dream became a possibility. Whilst juggling a full-time engineering degree at USYD, Saro performed in a number of short films for AFTRS, AFTT and UNSW among others.
He left his engineering course the minute he was accepted into ACA, ready to begin his training. Saro has relished the opportunity to play a diverse range of characters while at ACA, including Joe Pitt in Angels in America (dir. Troy Harrison), Skin Lad in ROAD (dir. John O’Hare), Simeon Medvedenko in The Seagull (dir. Camila Ah Kin), Flute/Thisbe/Mustardseed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (dir. Jonathan Mill), Winston in 1984 (dir. Will Mears), Gibbet/Gipsey in The Beaux Stratagem (dir. Claudia Barrie), and Lewis in Summer of the Aliens (dir. Troy Harrison).
When he’s not acting, he spends his time playing the guitar, writing short comedy sketches, or trying to multitask.
Saro is excited to make his mark on both stage and screen, as well as to create his own work.
