Micaela Phillips was introduced to theatre at a young age after seeing her cousin perform in the local pantomime. She soon followed suit and established herself as an actor in the theatre community scene of Newcastle, where she grew up. She is an artist who has worn many hats – director, producer, writer, stage manager, graphic designer, and of course, actor.
Prior to ACA, Micaela completed the NIDA Open Studio (Screen Acting) course in 2019, as well as ACA’s Foundation course in 2021. With over five years of experience, she continues to work as a puppeteer with Camp Quality. She provides a positive distraction for kids and their families impacted by cancer through puppet digital playdates, hospital visits, roving gigs, and educational school shows.
This year she took on a co-director role in Lost and Found, a piece devised by the ACA Writers Group. This show was born out of a love for words and performing. Alongside directing the show, Micaela’s other roles were author, producer, set designer, marketing, and graphic designer.
During her time at ACA, Micaela has had the delight of portraying Varya in The Cherry Orchard, Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet, Rosalind in As You Like It, Mme de Volanges in Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Greta in Simmer, Paula in After Dinner, and various roles in Machinal.
Micaela is a passionate creative, eager to seize the opportunities presented to her, whilst continuing to explore the depths of the human condition through storytelling.
