Patrick Klavins

Patrick Klavins is an educator and coach dedicated to supporting actors with the development of their craft. Having originally trained as an actor, he went on to complete a Master of Fine Arts in Voice at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). In 2024, after apprenticing with renowned voice practitioner Patsy Rodenburg, OBE, he was designated a Patsy Rodenburg Associate (PRA) teacher.

He has taught students at Actors Centre Australia, Adelaide College of the Arts, Darlo Drama, Flinders University Drama Centre, JMC Academy (formerly AFTT), NIDA, Rose Bruford College in London, Sydney Acting Studio, Sydney Actors School, Sydney Theatre School, and the University of Wollongong. Additionally, he has been a guest teaching artist at Belvoir St Theatre, the State Theatre Company of South Australia, and has recently begun working with Sport For Jove.

Recent coaching credits include NIDA BFA productions of Mary Stuart (dir. Marion Potts), Photograph 51 (dir. David Berthold), Swine River (dir. Ruby Lorraine), Medusa Uncut (dir. Harrison Simmons), Spring Awakening (dir. Claudia Osborne), and Frankenstein (dir. Benjamin Schostakowski); JMC Academy graduating productions of Brontë and Jane Eyre (dir. Sandie Eldridge); Port (dir. Nigel Turner-Carroll), Babyteeth (dir. Kim Hardick), IRL and The Pigeons (dir. Eugene Lynch) for KXT on Broadway; and American Song and Glengarry Glen Ross (dir. David Mealor) for Flying Penguin Productions and Co.

His major pedagogical influences include Patsy Rodenburg, Declan Donnellan, Peter Hall, Barbara Houseman, and Stella Adler.
