Mia Mathias

Mia is a Sydney born actor, whose life experience inspired her love of storytelling. Growing up in a family of eight, her home life was chaotic and creative and joy was found in using her imagination in play. Mia’s journey as a performer began with her singing at school. This led her to the stage as an actor. After high school Mia was committed to following this passion, completing courses at ATYP and NIDA, and then in 2017 she completed a Diploma of Screen and Media (Acting) at Sydney Actors School. At SAS Mia was directed by Kevin Jackson in Lucy Caldwell’s Leaves and Martin Crimp’s Five Essential Freedoms of the Individual. After completing the diploma, Mia travelled to New York to study at Atlantic Theatre School in their Summer Intensive Program.

In her time at ACA, Mia has explored a range of characters such as Maggie in The Mill on the Floss (dir. Maeliosa Stafford), Anya in The Cherry Orchard (dir. Adam Cook), Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (dir. Johnathan Mill), Harper in Angels in America (dir. Troy Trilsbach-Harrison) and Cherry in The Beaux’ Stratagem (dir. Claudia Barrie).

ACA has created the opportunity for Mia to develop her professional acting skills and her own unique style of performance. As a storyteller from childhood, Mia continues to share stories that invite people to connect and feel and hopefully feel less alone in the world.
