2025 Graduate

Alex Castello

Born and raised in Canberra by Peruvian-German parents, Alex grew up with a passion for film, theatre and storytelling. His love for performing was solidified in high school when he was cast as a lead role in the school musical. After graduating, he completed a Bachelor of Media Arts and Production with a Major in Journalism at the University of Canberra, where he began performing in a variety of theatre and film projects. Alex continued to seize every creative opportunity he could whilst obtaining a trade in Painting and Decorating, prior to being offered a place at Actors Centre Australia.

He is an avid writer and a member of the ACA Writers Group, performing in two student productions across the combined cohorts. His short play Stage Fright was published by Currency Press in Intersection: Bloom, an anthology of short plays commissioned by the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP). It was presented at The Rebel Theatre in 2022.

Throughout his time at Actors Centre Australia, Alex has played the title role in Ivanov, the Stage Manager/Wally Webb/Si Crowell in Our Town, Jerry in Edward Albee’s The Zoo Story (NIDA x ACA), Simon in Don’s Party, Player Queen/Gravedigger/Osric in Hamlet, Pete in Saved, Andres in States of Decay, Iago in Othello and William Thornhill in The Secret River.

He is excited to be entering the industry as a trained actor and to continue building on the skills he has learnt at drama school.
