2018 Graduate

Eleni Cassimatis

Growing up in Orange, NSW, Eleni took part in the school and community theatre shows, as well as in orchestras with the violin and various choirs. Eleni made the move to Sydney in 2014, where she worked on various projects with independent film and theatre-makers. Films included Reuben Field’s GECKO which was part of Flickerfest 2016, and DEADLY FORECAST, a Tropfest shortlist. Theatre productions include A SNOWFLAKE ON THE TONGUE OF OBERON as part of Sydney Fringe Fest 2015 and PORNOGRAPHY by Simon Stephens, (dir. Shane Anthony).

At ACA, Eleni has relished playing characters such as Arkadina in THE SEAGULL (dir. Sarah Carradine), ‘Tracy’ in SWEAT (dir. Gale Edwards, Steph in MORNING (dir. Riley Spadaro), and Snout the Tinker in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM (dir. Adam Cook). In the rehearsal room, highlights have included exploring Constance in KING JOHN, Paulina in THE WINTER’S TALE, and many differing forms of poetry. Eleni has been inspired greatly by Jennifer West’s voice classes, vastly expanding her love and appreciation for heightened language.

Upon graduating she is excited to collaborate in film, television and theatre. Eleni is thrilled to be part of POOL, NO WATER (dir. Maeliosa Stafford), which she will be acting in as well as producing under the mentorship of O’Punksky’s Theatre at the Sydney Fringe Festival in September 2018. She is also excited to be working on creating a production company with some fellow actors after graduation.
