Isabella Debbage

In a seaside suburb of Auckland New Zealand Isabella began her artistic career playing “Pirates” with a piece of 2×4 and a sheet of tarpaulin. This imaginative inspiration propelled her into the world of improvisational theatre. As the need for career direction loomed closer all arrows pointed towards Shakespeare. She studied and performed Shakespeare and contemporary plays through her teenage years. Isabella’s career path was set on moving towards professional acting. After a quick dip at Auckland University she decided ‘Drama School’ was the next step.

A leap across the ditch landed her at ACA, where her artistic development was accelerated at full speed. Her performance highlights through the course have been “Night Circus” directed by Anthony Skuze and Sam Chester, “Three Sisters” by Stefanos Rassios and “The Heidi Chronicles” by Kevin Jackson. At ACA Isabella has honed her improvisation technique under the guidance of Lyn Pierse and Scott Witt.

During her acting training Isabella has also found a talent for collaborating and directing, which she is putting into use by starting up a production company with her peers. Isabella is looking forward to becoming an active member of the industry in theatre, film and TV.
