Name: Stephanie Wilson
From: Canberra
Graduating class of 2024

What made you apply to ACA?
I auditioned for ACA as I believe it to be one of the best acting schools in Australia – with brilliant, world-class tutors, excellent facilities, an extensive and extraordinary program, and with one of the greatest communities of theatre makers and performers that I’ve ever experienced. After my call-back audition at the end of last year, I knew instantly that ACA was where I wanted to be and knew that it would assist me immensely in achieving all of my theatrical aspirations.

What’s your Fav show at ACA (that you’ve performed in)?
Virginia in Ruben Guthrie, dir. Troy Harrison (2022) in the First Years’ Australian Scene Work, The Trouble of Us.

Fav show at ACA that you’ve seen?
Three Sisters, dir. Anthony Skuse (2022) or Cloud Nine, dir. Cristabel Sved (2022)

What advice would you give to someone auditioning for ACA?
Know why you want to be a performer and why you want to hone your skills and knowledge of the craft. To the audition panel, present yourself as yourself, and pick audition pieces that genuinely interest and affect you. Have fun – it might turn into one of the best experiences of your life!

What type of career do you hope to build post-graduation?
Stage theatre acting primarily, with hopes to develop my screen acting and theatre-making skills during my time at ACA – becoming a versatile, well-rounded creative and theatrical artist.

What actor inspires you?
Olivia Coleman, Toni Collette & Phoebe Waller-Bridge

What are you currently rehearsing and what role?
-First Year Devised Production directed by Anthony Skuse and Kate Sherman
-First Year Movement Solos
-Shakespeare Sonnets & Monologues

What skill (element of your performance) are you working on and hope to nail before graduation?
– An expansive knowledge of the craft
– Consistent nuance and truth in my performances
– Theatre making and performance development skills
– Screen acting
